Collected State Practice

As a student of the Gurdjieff-Bennett work, a daily collected state practice is an essential part of my day. Here, I guide you through the practice of relaxing and sensing the body, being with the quiet mind, and feeling into the heart.

Resources

The Enneagram: Nine Gateways to Presence (audiobook), Russ Hudson

This is the book about the Enneagram system that I recommend to my clients. In it, Russ Hudson - one of the early Enneagram pioneers who still actively teaches - takes us through how the intricacies of the Enneagram system work as applied to all nine patterns. This volume includes essential updated theories and content from his earlier works.

Finding Freedom: Understanding Our Relationships Using Object Relations and the Enneagram, Belinda Gore

In this book, master therapist, coach, and teacher Belinda Gore shares her model of object relations as it applies to the nine Enneagram temperaments. She provides clear, succinct exercises to help liberate us from the traps of our object relations patterns. This work is essential for those ready to go deeper into understanding and being their true selves.

The Instinctual Drives and the Enneagram, John Luckovich

The instinctual drives are a critical and often misunderstood part of the Enneagram system. John Luckovich’s nuanced understanding of them, the role they play in personality, and their implications for inner work are an incredible contribution to Enneagram literature. This work is a next-level deep-dive for those serious about understanding the motivations underlying their personality structure.

Atlas of the Heart, Brene Brown

While I recommend all of Brene Brown’s work, this one stands out for those ready to really get in touch with the language of our heart’s intelligence without fear of losing themselves. It serves both as an encyclopedia of emotions and maps the needed skills and frameworks for meaningful connection, providing the language and tools to access choice and connection.

Self Observation, Red Hawk

In this slim volume, Red Hawk provides an accessible, intimate, often raw and often humorous doorway to the work of Gurdjieff and the Fourth Way. He guides us to explore the power of self-study through self observation, an essential part for any inner work journey to have lasting impact.
